As a nature and animal lover, it was a natural fit in 2002 when Nora Lee began taking a camera on her off road adventures. As the art of photography became a driving passion, and her portfolio of exceptional images expanded, she secured herself a two-semester scholarship at The Academy of Arts University in San Francisco. During her study at the academy, she began to expand her photographic knowledge to include the art of the photographic print. Controlling the quality from start to finish, she prints all her own exhibition images.
Having a profession in the Horse Racing Industry since 1994, she has been privy to trainings in the beautiful early morning light. The horses and jockeys are an irresistible visual topic of interest, including the lovable Racing Mules who are featured during Fair Time. The California Museum in Sacramento will be using Nora’s 2005 Bay Meadows photograph of all-time leading jockey, Russell Baze, racing the horse, Lost in the Fog, for their upcoming exhibit entitled California Chrome.
Her photographs of nature, wildlife, life on the water, and landscapes are often on exhibit at local county fairs, and The San Mateo County Fair honored her with Artist of the Year for 2003, 2004 and 2006. The California Council on Tourism chose her Montara Lighthouse image to grace their promotional brochure.
Her work can also often be viewed around The Bay Area at establishments such as Point Richmond’s Kaleidoscope Café and Britt-Marie’s Restaurant in Albany.
A resident of Point Richmond since 2008, Nora joined Point Richmond Arts in early 2016, and she is currently exhibiting in the window next to the Point Richmond Post Office, and at Britt-Marie’s Restaurant.
